Settings
Configure how Pantry Plus works. Start with Product Lookup APIs — the sources searched when you scan a barcode. Data & Backup exports or restores your pantry; AI powers voice and smart entry. Tap a section to expand it.
Product Lookup APIs

Free sources are checked automatically. Keyed sources are only called when you tap "Check other sources," unless you turn on "Check automatically." Toggle a source off to skip it during lookups.

How product lookup works & how to set it up

When you scan a barcode, Pantry Plus searches these sources in order and uses the first match to fill in the product's name, brand, size, and nutrition:

  1. Your own saved products
  2. Free sources (Open Facts) — no setup, no cost, checked automatically. Good coverage for groceries, and also cosmetics, pet food, and household items.
  3. Keyed sources (UPC Database, BarcodeNest, Barcode Lookup) — optional extra coverage. Sign up with the provider, paste your API key here, and they become available. Some have monthly limits or costs, so they default to on-demand.

Each source has two switches:

  • Enabled — whether the source may be used at all.
  • Check automatically — on = queried on every scan; off = only when you tap Check other sources. Free sources default to on; keyed sources default to off to protect your quota.

To add a keyed source:

  1. Create an account on the provider's site and copy your API key.
  2. Tap Add Key on that provider below and paste it in.
  3. Optionally flip Check automatically on if you want it searched on every scan.

Data & Backup

Download your collection's data. The backup is a complete JSON snapshot for safekeeping/restore; the CSV is a shareable, Excel-friendly inventory summary.

Restore from Backup

Load a previously downloaded backup JSON into the active collection.

This replaces everything. All products, inventory, categories, groups, locations, units, tags, and household members in the active collection are deleted and replaced by the backup's contents. This cannot be undone.
